Aside from some sloppy remarks about post-modernism and integral theory being the same thing which sparked my rant about misusing the term post-modern and confusing it with relativism or post-structuralism, I think that Reasonable Doubts beginning to tackle and critique Wilbur’s “integral theory”. Integral theory is quite like Karen Armstrong’s cherry-picking mixed with teleological progressive thought like Robert Wright: it is a prime example of confirmation bias.
Wilbur is popular in more “secularized” Buddhist circles, so I have been critiquing him for years for basically misreading ancient tasks and practices to fit his biases. Other Buddhist thinkers like Brad Warner have called him out for this in print.
As for the Emergent Church, it seems like a misuse of Language and an abuse of myth theory of Jung and Campbell to keep a lot of Christian theology possible. I still, however, can’t figure out exactly what this theology is.
